Definition

Guidance service for a waterborne vessel provided by a pilot or a pilotage station in order to allow the vessel to enter or exit the waterway that provides access to the port, or when the vessel is faced with adverse meteorological conditions, unpredictable tides and currents, underwater dangers, congested waterways or narrow passages.
